Editorial Policy

How we create and maintain our guides

Last updated: April 2025

Our Commitment to Accuracy

Every guide published on GuideToBusiness is written to be accurate, practical, and specific to the UK legal and regulatory environment. We do not publish generic international content and relabel it for the UK market. All tax figures, legal thresholds, and regulatory requirements are verified against HMRC, Companies House, and GOV.UK at the time of publication.

Research Process

Our writers research each guide using primary sources — HMRC guidance, Companies House filings, legislation.gov.uk, and official government publications — before consulting secondary sources such as professional accountancy bodies (ICAEW, ACCA) and legal associations. We do not rely on other commercial websites as primary sources.

Review and Updates

Tax rates, employment law thresholds, and regulatory requirements change regularly in the UK. We conduct a full content audit at the start of each new tax year (6 April) and update all affected guides within 30 days. We also monitor HMRC announcements and update guides on an ad-hoc basis when significant changes are announced.

Corrections Policy

If you believe any content on our site contains an error, please contact us. We investigate all reported errors within five working days. If a correction is required, we update the guide and add a correction notice at the bottom of the article noting what was changed and when.

Independence from Advertisers

Our editorial team operates independently from our commercial partnerships team. Advertisers and affiliate partners have no influence over which topics we cover, how we cover them, or what conclusions we reach. Our guides are never written to promote specific products — any product recommendations are made on editorial merit alone.
